Apopka, Florida, firefighters brightened the holidays for deserving children, thanks to 1-800-BOARDUP of Orlando, Walmart, Spin City Cycles, the Apopka Firefighters Association and the Apopka Police Department.

The firefighters presented about 25 bicycles to kids in need and the police department provided safety helmets. Most recipients were arranged through Apopka area public schools. Some attend the after-school program at Apopka’s Alonzo Williams Recreation Center. Two of the children are from Haiti and the Virgin Islands, where Hurricane Irma destroyed their previous homes and all their belongings.

1-800-BOARDUP of Orlando worked with Walmart to provide new bikes that need some repair and the firefighters worked with Spin City Cycles to handle the repairs. Many thanks go out to our Apopka area BOARDUP team for helping to make the holidays so much happier for local kids in need.
