We took feedback from last year and developed new content and more breakout sessions. Day One held inspiration from our President, George Godfrey, about the question, “What’s Next?” and where he believes 1-800-BOARDUP’s future is headed. Glen Jackson, founder of top marketing agency Jackson Spalding, reminded us of how to achieve and sustain preeminence in our markets. From there, we had two separate tracks – the Local Service Partner track and the Director of Emergency Services track. Our breakouts ranged from marketing resources to charity events to team health.
At the Home Office, we are focused and inspired for and by YOU. Our award winners blew us away this year. A sincere congratulations to the following people/offices:
Go-Giver/Charitable Giving Award to J.C. Restoration in Chicago, IL.
New Office of the Year Award to Lariat Builders in El Paso, TX.
Jack Eskridge Memorial Director of the Year Award to Dennis Cote of Insurcomm in Portsmouth, NH.
Local Service Partner of the Year Award to Kowalski Construction in Phoenix, AZ.
We spent time with Major Ed Puildo, a Purple Heart recipient, who told us the story of firefighters saving his life on the battlefield.
Finally, we competed (some of us better than others!) in the Big Dog Challenge at Top Golf, where the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF)joined us for fellowship and friendship!
Day Two was another day full of good content and inspiration. We talked, in depth, about carcinogens and putting citizens back into hazardous environments. We discussed firefighter department training, top 10 successful things to do as an office, collections pain points and empathy vs. sympathy.
The NFFF was astonished when we DOUBLED our donation from last year, giving $10,000 to help families of fallen firefighters with much needed support.
We ended the day with riding scooters from one restaurant to another, zooming down Peachtree Street! Many of our teams went straight to talk to their fire chiefs, in town for Fire Rescue International.
To sum it up, it was a fun-filled, learning-filled, meaningful two days. We thank everyone for their attendance, feedback and support and we are already planning for next year. As always, don’t hesitate to contact the Home Office if you need anything.
