1-800-BOARDUP NETWORK TO HONOR AND REMEMBER AMERICA’S FALLEN FIRE HEROES THROUGH CONTRIBUTIONS TO SUPPORT THE FAMILIES OF FIREFIGHTERS WHO HAVE DIED IN THE LINE OF DUTY
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, FL (February 3, 2017) – 1-800-BOARDUP has launched an official 2017 fundraising partnership supporting The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF). Donations will be directed to NFFF programs that honor fallen firefighter heroes, assist their survivors and help prevent future line-of-duty deaths and injuries.
“Every one of us at 1-800-BOARDUP is filled with limitless admiration and respect for the fire fighters who selflessly put themselves at risk to help others, too many times becoming victims themselves. We look forward to honoring America’s fallen fire heroes and raising support through our extensive network of over 100 offices in North America. The NFFF also shares similar Mission and Values, which is one more reason we have committed, as a network, to making a large financial donation,” said Beth Toenies, President of 1-800-BOARDUP.
Each October the NFFF hosts the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend in Emmitsburg, Maryland to honor those firefighters who died in the line of duty in the previous year. Beyond that weekend, the Foundation coordinates conferences where survivors can participate in workshops for parents, spouses, adult children and coworkers, and sponsors camps for younger children. The NFFF also provides scholarships for spouses, partners, children and step-children to further their academic goals.
In addition, the Foundation works with all branches of the fire service to reduce line-of-duty deaths and injuries through the Everyone Goes Home® program. This initiative provides free resources, materials and training opportunities to firefighters that emphasize improving health and safety.
Chief Ron Siarnicki, Executive Director of NFFF,
“We deeply appreciate the generosity of 1-800-BOARDUP and its national network of local service partners to support our mission. This partnership also introduces the Foundation to a broad group of citizens who appreciate the commitment and service of the fire service in their community.”
